The word "Saifa" means "destroy and tear". Saifa is of Chinese origin, brought back to Okinawa in the late 1800's by Kanryo Higaonna. Saifa is the first of the eight "Kaishu" or open handed Kata in the curriculum of Gojuryu Karatedo.
