I would like to comment on a very important represenative of Shoreikan Goju Ryu's introduction to the United States. His name is Sensei Ichiro Takahata. Sensei Takahata was sent to America before Sensei Kawakami and taught Shoreikan in Oklahoma City from 1968 to the late 1970's. Sensei Kawakami came to Oklahoma in 1970 and taught here during that time period. I Bill Mays was a student of both Sensei Takahata and Sensei Kawakami. During that time I had the priveledge of taking training from Koncho Seikichi Toguchi as well as being in some of his demonstrations when he visited the US. I am listed in the All Goju Ryu Network lineage and would like to add a few names of my students. Tim Bergdall, David Roller, Greg Ross, Brad Corwin, Brad Crowley, Roger Hyatt, Tony Smith, Byron Deitz, Dwayne Nickel, Jerry Nickel, Paul Prim.
